Description
BOTTOM DESCRIPTION:
This unique door harp was created with items collected from the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. Beautiful flowing driftwood and natural stone beads make a lovely sound. For every piece of treasure collected from the beach, at least one piece of trash was also taken. I have a deep passion for nature and the beauty it provides. My motto for people visiting the shores of northern Michigan is to collect trash and treasure in equal measure. Express your passion for our world with this one-of-kind treasure for your own home.
- The door harp originated in Scandinavia, mostly in Sweden but also in Norway and Denmark, and has evolved over time. It is estimated the door harp has been around for about 700 years. It was inspired by the Chinese Feng Shui tradition of hanging bells or chimes around doors and windows to “alter the Chi” (good energy in, bad energy out).
- The Swedish adopted this idea but instead of bells, they incorporated the strings and beads which you see on the modern-day door harp. The original superstition behind them was to repel evil spirits but has since evolved to signify welcome, luck, health, and prosperity to all that pass through the door.
- It is usually hung on the inside of the front door. Turn the tuning pegs until you find the sound you like best, and enjoy this unique creation from Michigan’s shores!
